Review MJX X400W FPV Quadcopter Drone

FPV WIFI Camera Durable and Stable Click image for larger view The MJX X400W summary. Overall a great flying, durable FPV quadcopter. Very similar to the Syma X5SW FPV Explorers 2 quadcopter. Both have their PROs & CONs which I will go over below.

The stability and durability make the MJX a good beginners quadcopter especially if you’re interested in FPV. Durability The durability is great. The only complaint I have about the quad is the weak landing gear. Fortunately a little glue (gorilla glue works great) will fix it right up.

The frame is very light and strong. In my video review, you can see me crashing into concrete walls and the ground with minimal damage.

Battery It includes a high capacity 750mAh Li-po battery which is larger than the Syma X5SW, giving you an extra minute or two of flight time. Extra batteries are cheap and easy to find. I added a recommend set of batteries in the side bar. FPV Camera The quality of the camera isn’t great. The reason for the low quality video is because it’s all broadcast over a WIFI signal to your smart phone. There is no memory card in the quadcopter itself, it’s all stored on your phone. It is pretty responsive however and when it’s within range, it’s pretty cool to see the view from your quadcopter. The camera angle is adjustable. This is helpful for when you’re flying fast and don’t want to be looking at the ground the whole time. I tilted my camera up so it’s pointing forward and slightly up. Flight performance This MJX quadcopter has great flight performance. The power to weight ratio is good so pulling out of steep dives and turns are not a problem.

The gyro handles aggressive movements really well. DBPOWER MJX X400W FPV RC Quadcopter Drone with Wifi Camera Live ... Being the last in our list does not make DBPower MJX X400W of less quality. In fact, it is one of the flexibly designed compact quadcopters that have the toughest and best quality construction. The drone includes prop guards that help keep it safe from damage when it hits hard surfaces. Its body is all white though there are red accents that make it look extra elegant. It performs incredibly well while flying. The great turning and climb rates make the drone perfect for both beginner and experienced pilots.

MJX X400W is not affected by windy conditions since the 6 axis gyros enable it to maintain stable and smooth flights regardless of the weather condition.

It has an FPV stream that transmits through Wi-Fi. You can easily see the transmissions on your smartphone via the DBPower interlinked mobile app. This great choice of a drone under $100 has a powerful HD 720p camera that can be easily activated via the mobile app to record videos and photos. With this drone, you can shoot decent and sharp videos and photos thanks to the powerful HD 720p camera.

Regretfully, the pictures and videos taken using this camera may be a bit wanting considering the camera is designed to be used to provide FPV live stream rather than take photos and videos. The best thing about this choice of a drone is that it can be paired with a 3D VR headset to deliver an incredibly immersive flying experience. The drone is powered by a 3.7V 750 mAh battery that takes up to two hours to charge. The battery is powerful enough to fly your drone for 9 minutes nonstop. The flight time can be, however, more or low depending on the aggressiveness of your flight. It’s a beginner pilot though the FPV function makes it quite a great choice that experienced pilots can find fun flying.

Refined powerhouse DJI Mavic Pro Platinum Reviewer

With the Mavic Air, the Mavic Pro and the Mavic Pro Platinum, DJI's mid-range drone line is starting to get a little crowded.

They're all decent machines, but what are the differences between the three and which one is best for you? New Atlas compares the specs and features of the current Mavic drones. DJI Mavic Pro Platinum Quadcopter DJIMVPRO-PT Videoguys Australia The Mavic Pro Platinum is the second iteration of the Mavic drone. DJI didn't make any changes to the basic design—aside from a lighter, silver finish, you can't tell it apart from the Mavic Pro (which is a darker gray) by sight.

When folded the drone measures 3.3 by 3.3 by 7.8 inches; it weighs about 1.6 pounds. It fits into the same pocket of my camera bag where I normally stow a small telezoom lens, like the Sony FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS. If you're after a compact quadcopter for vlogging, video production, and photography, the Mavic Pro Platinum is what you want, but it's expensive. DJI does sell another small model, the Spark, which is now available for less than its $500 MSRP.

The Spark is OK for casual use, but its flight time is very short and video is just 1080p. It packs a lot of tech into a small frame, but it's more of a toy than a real creative tool.

So while the Mavic Pro Platinum is pricey, it's the best of the bunch, and our Editors' Choice. The DJI Mavic Pro Platinum ($1,099) is the best small drone you can buy.

Its folding form factor stows easily in a camera or messenger bag, and it has a dedicated remote that's also quite compact. Its flight performance is top-notch, with 4K video to match, and built-in safety features automated return-to-home and forward obstacle avoidance. It's a fantastic choice for most aerial videographers and YouTubers, as well as our Editors' Choice, although DJI has some options to cater to the higher end, including the Phantom 4 Pro and Inspire 2.

The DJI Mavic Pro Platinum is the best small drone on the market. Its folding design makes it a go-anywhere option, easily when stowed into a gear bag. It's a bit quieter and flies longer than the original Mavic Pro, but also costs more. Don't rule out the first version, especially if you're on a budget and don't mind a few minutes less flight time. FAA regulations require you to keep the drone in your line of sight during when flying. The Mavic is capable of going much farther, in the event you're working with a spotter or flying in a locale with less strict rules.

DJI rates its transmission range in terms of miles, so you won't have to worry about losing the video feed when flying. In the unlikely event that communication is disrupted, the Mavic Pro will automatically return to its take-off point and land itself. No-fly zones are another bone of contention. DJI has taken a more hands-on approach to limiting flight in order to force its customers to comply with FAA regulations. The drone won't take off in some areas at all—DJI refers to these as Restricted Zones.

These include all of Washington, DC and the immediate area around major and minor airports. If you do have authorization to use the drone in these normally verboten airspaces, you'll need to contact DJI via email to arrange a flight. The remote controller can beam instructions to the Mavic Pro and Pro Platinum from up to 4.3 mi (7 km) away, while the Mavic Air can only get as far as 2.5 mi (4 km). However, if you're just flying with a phone, the range of all three models drops to 80 m (262 ft).

The Force1 F100 Drone Review

The Force1 F100 Drone provides a thrilling flight for pilots of any skill level. While the drone isn’t made to mount all GoPro HEROs and costs more money to upgrade, making the upgrades are worth it. The video quality is crisp, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a drone in its price range that gets 19 minutes of flight time. If you find the Force1 F100 too challenging, read our UDI U818A review to see if it suits your experience better. 1) Update your mobile device’s operating system with the newest version available. 2) Make sure to download the correct app and the most updated version of the app and your phones operating system 3) With the drone off, unplug the camera from the drone/mainboard. 4) Turn the drone on and pair it with the transmitter.

Turn off the drone and transmitter. 6) Plug the camera back into the drone. 7) Turn on the drone and the transmitter again. 8) Connect your phone to the drone’s Wi-Fi. Once connected, FPV should be available when using the app. Note #3: Big thanks to USA Toyz and Force1 RC, who sent us a lot of models on this list to test and review. Both USA Toyz and Force1 RC are U.S. based companies that sell through Amazon. Unlike many of their non-U.S. counterparts, they offer quality customer service, user manuals you can actually understand, and good business ethics.

Many of the models on this list link directly to these companies. We are a big fan of the Force1 because they consistently include extras with their drones. They really strive to make their customers happy. Not all companies will include little things like an SD card and a card reader, but Force1 does. The Blue Jay comes with two batteries and even a power bank (not pictured), so you can charge the batteries while you are in the field.

SANROCK Mini Drone Review

What is a mini drone? Mini drone is a small drone that is about the size of your palm. These types are ideal for having fun, building your skill set, and understanding how to fly. What is a nano drone? Nano quadcopters and drones miniaturized in size, around the scale of a penny. They can support you develop your ability before moving to high-end equipment. And they are flyable indoors that is a big bonus over the higher-priced drones.

What is the difference between nano and a mini drone? Although both nano and mini drones share the same functionalities, the primary distinction is of the size. Mini quadcopters are bigger than nano quadcopters and suited to outdoors flights too. On the flip side, nano quadcopters are small compared to mini quads and can sit on your hands and so support the indoors flights. What is the difference between a toy and a mini drone? They are to not confused with the toy drones because their compact controllers and bodies do not imply technological compromises in-flight features or camera quality. Who should fly these tiny quads?

These little crafts are perfect for beginner multirotor pilots, and for people who already got earlier experience on flying larger remote control quadcopters. In case, you are skilled in handling the big radio-controlled UAV’s; it is much easier to take flight a tiny quadcopter. About age, these little copters are for both adults and kids. Most manufacturers suggest their products for persons above 14 years old, but, even the younger kids can travel them.

There is no restriction regarding the pilot’s age. Should I buy a mini or a nano drone? Before deciding this, look at review section which we have above. It is because nano and mini drones are the same things. The only matter you will have to stress about is what type you would like. Do all mini quads have cameras? Yes, most of the new mini quads have a camera. However, they lack the professional lenses quality.

Do I require a camera in my mini drone / micro drone? The response is “it depends.” If you wish to make videos or take pictures then straightaway buy a quadcopter with an integrated camera. Or perhaps at the least, a gimbal where a camera could get attached.

Also, if you are thinking of getting into first-person-view drone flying, be sure you look for a mini or micro drone that facilitates that feature. Can a mini drone hold a GoPro? GoPro camera built with a proper design to get carried by most mini drones. The latest models incorporate some excellent features – from longer flight to capturing top-quality images.

They will not demand GoPro cameras to shoot things. As a result, you cannot expect these to carry GoPro. Although, you will find a few models that come with a lightweight add-on or built-in camera. Where may you hover mini quads? When learning how to fly a real rig for the first-time, it is good to search a right location for this. Take your first flying lesson inside, in your home or find a vacant space for this intent. For the outdoors flights, choose a quiet windless day, and a clean spot. Could micro drones fly indoors? Yes! Given they are tiny, they are ideal for flying within your home, will not be a lot of stress, etc. Can you pilot a mini quad rotor at night?

Yes, micro drones can use and flown at night. How long will batteries in a small drone last? Like all quads, the life of a battery depends on what model you own. The battery on a nano drone has a shorter life cycle than a regular drone. They last for about 5-7 minutes, 8 minutes when you are lucky. In case, you are getting a costly model; batteries would last 30 minutes tops.

Are nano drones simple to fix? Since nano drone is so small, they could be hard to repair. So, it is best to let it to an expert. One wrong action could destroy your drone. If you have experience with fixing a drone, you will have a more relaxed moment doing so. However, if you do not have that knowledge, it is not a smart move.

DJI Phantom 4 Pro Review

Flight modes4.3mi (7km) long-range controlSensor redundancyIntelligent batteriesDJI GO 4Different productions require different flight characteristics, and the Phantom 4 Pro offers three modes for flight: P, A and S. Switching between them allows pilots to get the control they need, whether they seek smoothness, simplicity, intelligent navigation or speed. In Position Mode, TapFly, ActiveTrack, obstacle sensing and positioning features are available.

Sport Mode adds extra agility and higher speed, reaching 45 mph (72 kph). Atti Mode switches off satellite stabilization and holds the Phantom 4 Pro’s altitude. It is ideal for experienced pilots looking to capture smoother footage. Tripod Mode, which limits speed to 4mph (7kph) provides precision control for fine framing and indoor flying. Both the infrared sensing system and vision sensors are enabled in these modes for a safer flight experience.

Using brand new DJI Lightbridge HD video transmission technology, the Phantom 4 Pro has a maximum transmission range of 4.3i (7km)*. Before each flight, it scans a range of available frequencies to find and use the one with the least interference. By supporting 2.4GHz and 5.8 GHz frequency bands, it gives you more reliable control. Tightly integrated with DJI GO 4, Lightbridge video transmission also sends vital flight statistics in real time, and can be used to quickly download photos and videos to connected mobile devices.

The Lightbridge video transmission system uses advanced transmission technologies and can automatically adjust to environmental conditions. It ensures high quality, low latency image transmission across its range and offers pilots a better shooting experience. Traditional analog video transmission occupies a larger bandwidth and is more susceptible to interference. It also suffers from poor image quality and short range.

Wi-Fi transmission also compares poorly, suffering from low latency, lengthy re-connection times, and short transmission distances due to the high cost of more powerful Wi-Fi transmission. * Unobstructed, free of interference, when FCC compliant. The Phantom 4 Pro features dual compass modules and dual IMU units, making it more reliable when compared to many helicopters and quadcopters.

Compasses and IMUs are important sensors to ensure a stable flight and the Phantom 4 Pro constantly compares the data it receives through both pairs.

This data is run through advanced algorithms to check accuracy and any inaccurate data is simply discarded without affecting flight, keeping flight steady and reliable.Professional aerial imaging benefits from longer flight times. The Phantom 4 Pro has a maximum flight time of 30 minutes, providing more time in the air to capture the perfect shot.

The DJI GO 4 app shows battery lifetime and calculates remaining flight times according to distance traveled and more. It will give alerts when it reaches a minimum safe amount required for a safe journey back to the takeoff point. An advanced battery management system is also in place to prevent overcharging and over draining. When placed in longer term storage, batteries will discharge power to maintain good health. When shooting aerials, the remote controller is responsible for most physical controls including piloting and capture. However, more challenging shoots require a real-time video feed, vital flight statistics and advanced settings.

These are traditionally handled through a smart device, making the smart device essential to aerial imaging. The DJI GO 4 app is optimized for aerials and is updated along with the aircraft to ensure all features are supported. It can be used on smart devices and is available to be integrated into the DJI CrystalSky monitor, providing simple and convenient control.

Using the DJI GO 4 app, a large number of Intelligent Flight Modes are available. It also provides access to full manual camera controls, including ISO, aperture, shutter speed, image formats, and more. Any changes in DJI GO 4 will appear almost instantly on-screen. Vital flight data and video transmission status are easy to check in-app, further enhancing control efficiency and convenience. DJI GO 4 includes editing features for quick editing and sharing to social media and even live streaming. After each flight, flight routes and data are automatically recorded and synchronized to the attached DJI GO 4 account, keeping it readily accessible for you to review. Both flight logs and data are easy to record and review.

dji spark review 2018

Update: We're still waiting for news on a sequel to the
DJI Spark, but a recent leaked image and catalog ad have given us a sneak preview of the upcoming DJI Mavic 2. The new drone was originally due to launch on July 18, but DJI has now pushed that date back. We'll keep you updated as soon as we know more about the new Mavic, and when we hear the first news about the DJI Spark 2. Original review continues below.

DJI Spark Drones | B&H Photo Video Rated 5 out of 5 by Jimmy from Good product. Fun to play I was new to drone.

Saw a good deal for another brand but after I did some research, I decided to buy DJI Spark. Spark was not just a toy. It was a sophisticated product. I encourage everyone to go to YouTube to learn about the tips and tricks first. The 1st time I played with it I flew up really high and flew away. I was a bit panic but luckily able to brought it back, so make sure you practice.

I got a good deal that the remote control was free, and you should always use the remote and also an OTG cable. Spark is very good product for beginners, given what it offers for the price, and from a well known drone company. If you are new to drone, get a Spark. DROCON Ninja Review

The next drone that I believe is perfectly suitable for kids (well, maybe a bit more grown-up kids, aged 10+), is the
DROCON Navigator U31W. This one is definitely a drone capable of flying outdoors, as opposed to the previous suggestions which are mainly for indoor usage. That being said, you can of course still fly it indoors with no problem whatsoever, as DROCON has put in the box 4 propeller guards that you can mount on each arm of the drone so you can protect the drone if/when you crash it. .

99 Two Colors DROCON NINJA FPV Drone with 720P HD Wi-Fi Camera ... In terms of actual performance Drocon U818Plus works amazingly well. That’s partially because of its proprietary 2S 1000mAh LiPo battery which can keep it in the air for up to 15 minutes. Furthermore, the operating range is solid too, especially considering this is a toy-grade drone. You’ll be getting around 50 to 60 meters of range as well as WiFI FPV which can be used via FlyingSee app which is downloadable for your smartphone device.

All things considered, Drocon did an exceptional job with U818Plus and you should definitely be considering going for it. DROCON’s Ninja drone is perhaps the best drone under 100 with camera if you’re looking just at portability. This tiny drone can fit in your pocket thanks to its folded design,

but it will take to the air with relatively little preparation. This mid-price drone flies with an RC controller and a phone app and can stay in the air for about seven minutes with its rechargeable battery.

Perhaps the best feature, though, is its gravity sensor mode which allows the drone to follow the motion of your phone – a great feature for those who want to capture either great indoor video or outdoor video on very still days.

Looking at the drone, you can immediately tell it’s a class above the rest of the drones I’ve mentioned until now. The build quality is superior, and generally the drone is a bit larger,

but fortunately it’s very, and I mean very stable in the air. It uses air pressure technology to keep its altitude once you let go of the control sticks, and you can definitely feel the improvement over the smaller quadcopters I’ve mentioned in this article so far.

As soon as you let go of the control sticks of the remote controller, the DROCON Navigator U31W will keep its current position with almost no moving or flinching.

This is another upgraded version of UDI’s insanely popular U818 model. This time around, the folks over at Drocon made a few incremental improvements in terms of imaging quality. Besides that, you’ll also notice a bulkier frame with built-in (extremely thick) prop guards that will ensure the safety of your drone even after high speed crashes.

That’s about it as far as the introduction is concerned – now let’s take a closer look at it and see what’s it all about! Drocon U818Plus sports an integrated camera that’s mounted on an anti-vibration dampening rubber

. Additionally, it also sports optical anti shake technology which does somewhat of a good job in terms of eliminating jello and shakiness from your aerial footage. However, the camera can only record in 720p which is kind of too low for today’s standards. But, considering the low price of this model, it’s still a worth a try for people wanting to take on amateur aerial photography.

UDI’s RC U845 comes with a smaller 3.7V 350mAh capacity LiPo battery, but given the drone’s modest size, it can still provide from 6 to 9 minutes of flight time. Which is still a very good amount in this product segment.
